Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the developments of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team knows exactly where to head next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and warns that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the group reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
